  The new developed instrument is a cello model hat has been one of the most successful items in the Laubach line since decades. At the beginning of the year 2012 the Laubach luthier in co-operation with musicians of professional orchestras have begun to improve the model 888C Antique. The results of each stage of the development were tested and approved (or not approved) by professional cello players from different orchestras .

  As a result of the new arching important tonal qualities (e.g. projection and power, balance in volume and timbre, response in all registers) could be considerably improved. This instrument is an excellent choice for the demanding amateur, the college student as well as for the young professional musician who is looking for a very well balanced and reliable all-round instrument that is able to satisfy higher demands in solo, chamber music and orchestra work.

   From the selection of acoustical wood to the attention to detail, everything about these cellos speaks quality. Beautifully finished with a hand applied oil finish, the deeply flamed Bosnian acoustic maple and select fine grained Tyrolean spruce produce an instrument that is unsurpassed in this price range.

  The outline is of Stradivari cello model, whose symmetry and proportion are not only beautiful, but also functions for ease of play.  The shoulders are gently sloping, enabling the musician to shift easily into higher thumb position.  The table between f-holes is strong and broad, yet the bow clears the center bouts unencumbered.  This Master cello speaks dynamically in a pure voice with an intricacy of overtones.

The cello can be equipped with cello strings with the following 3 options:

a). Strings in the classic combination of "C + D: Spirocore-Wolfram" and "A + D: Larsen-Solo";

b). Strings Larsen complete "C + D: Larsen-Wolfram" and "A + D: Larsen-Solo";  

c). New 2016 - Cello strings set Perpetual Pirastro variations in the "Soloist" or "Medium".

  This cello plays very easily and has an exccelent attack, particularly for a intermediate instrument. Both bass and treble are pleasing to listen to.

  Antique Cremona old school varnish appears to be dark brown laid over yellowish base, giving a rich golden brown color; back and ribs somewhat lighter; ribs are rippled to the touch.
