Music China, Asia-Pacific’s number one music industry event will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) in China and is expected to attract more than 70,000 visitors from around the world.
Music China the sister show of Musikmesse held in Germany, is organised jointly by the China Music Instrument Association Shanghai and Messe Frankfurt
18th edition of the show features 10 international pavilions Music China, Asia Pacific’s number one music industry event, will take place in Shanghai, China from 11 – 14 October this year. More than 1,300 exhibitors from 29 countries and regions will showcase their broad product mix in 78,500 sqm of exhibition space.
The show’s 18th anniversary is also celebrating the largest ever number of international and regional pavilions. This year there are 10 pavilions from Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, Spain, Taiwan and the UK, covering various music sectors..
Belgium pavilion exhibitors believe the show offers the best opportunity to learn about the Chinese music market and to meet musicians and potential business partners. Mr Bob Van de Velde, President of DMP cvba said: “The sheet music business is a global market where global branding is necessary. We stand for high quality in content, design and production, so it is essential for us to promote this quality abroad by attending international fairs like Music China and by networking with internationally acclaimed musicians and bands.”
The Czech Republic Commenting on the Asian market, exhibitor Mrs Zuzana Ceralova Petrofova, President of Petrof, spol. s r. o. said: “There is a high demand for European made MI products in the Asian and Chinese market. Last year about 30 percent of our sales came from the Asian market and we expect to see continued growth in the coming years." The pavilion will also feature stringed, bowed and wind instruments.
France - French pavilion exhibitors are hoping to obtain a greater market share for their quality bowed and wind instruments. Mr Franck Bichon, owner of BG Franck Bichon said: “There is a positive change of wanting better quality in China and this is reflected by Chinese dealers caring more about product quality and sound.”
Germany - Music publisher Sikorski Musikverlage will unveil new editions from composers such as Sergei Prokofiev, Mieczyslaw Weinberg and Jia Guoping. Mr Volker S. Kneller, Sales Manager for Sikorski Musikverlage said: “Visitors from China are very interested in our products. We are confident that the Chinese market will continue to grow.” Other exhibitors include piano, Laubach violins & bowed and wind instrument manufacturers as well as sheet music publishers.
Taiwan - Specialising in percussion and stringed instruments, exhibitor Kuan Chou Chen Enterprise Co Ltd will feature new ukulele designs. Ms Vanessa Lai, the company’s Sales Representative said she will target buyers from Europe and the Americas. Also on display from other pavilion members will be wind instruments and drums.
The UK - Music publisher, Music Sales Group will present a range of music genres including over 100 new simplified Chinese editions published in conjunction with their Chinese partner Hao Hao Music Sales. Mr Ian Morgan, the group’s Business Development Director said: “We are committed to investing and developing the Asian and Chinese markets.” In addition, the UK pavilion will feature wind and electric instruments.
The Italian pavilion will specialise in bowed instruments, accordion and electric keyboards, the Netherlands and Scandinavian pavilions will feature sheet music and Spanish with highlight classical guitar and wood supply.
Music China the sister show of Musikmesse held in Germany, is organised jointly by the China Music Instrument Association (CMIA), INTEX Shanghai and Messe Frankfurt, and runs concurrently with Prolight and Sound Shanghai, an International Exhibition of Technologies and Services for Events, Installation and Production.
